Graeter’s Ice Cream Review & Giveaway

A few weeks ago, I got an email with the header of “Oprah’s Favorite Ice Cream”. Needless to say I was very intrigued. The email was about Graeter’s ice cream. They have recently started selling them in Kroger and Meijer in Michigan and they were kind enough to send me a package with 6 pints of different flavors.
Before we discuss the ice cream itself, I was happy to learn the following about them: its a fourth generation family-owned company their signature is using the French Pot process of making only 2-gallons at a time with all-natural ingredients like heavy cream and pure cane sugar. Yeah, you heard what I said. 2 gallons at a time! Read more about it here. That is insane, but shows what dedication is. Now…on to the ice cream.

It was so nice to come home and find ice cream waiting for me! I was a bit dubious about receiving it in the mail, but I was amazed at how well packed and insulated it was. There was a nice little note in there, and a pack of dry ice to keep the ice cream cold.

You can see how cold the ice cream was below. What a great way to ship it.

It was a rainbow of pints that greeted me, and I couldn’t wait to try each of them.

The flavors of ice cream: Mocha Chocolate Chip, Butter Cream, Mint Chocolate Chip, Strawberry, Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip, and Vanilla.

I always judge how good a brand is from their vanilla. You can cover up a bad base with flavor, but not with vanilla. The Graeter’s vanilla was so delicious, and creamy. You can also see the vanilla bean, which I always love.

The other interesting flavor was the Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip. I was looking forward to wrapping my lips around this one. I don’t think I have ever tasted anything like it, and believe me I have had alot of ice cream. lol. It was creamy, and tasted like raspberries. I loved the color too, since purple is my favorite.
The strawberries and cream was delightful. Creamy and light, not overwhelmingly sweet.

Under the purple scoop above is the mint chocolate chip. I’m so used to eating green ice cream, I wasn’t expecting a white mint ice cream. But I appreciate them not adding artificial colors, and enjoyed it even more.
My hubby and I agreed though, that the Mocha was one of the best we have ever had. Chocolate and coffee are always good partners, and the chocolate chips just push it over for the win! Lets just say that pint disappeared fast!

The ice cream is creamy and delicious, and definitely a must try. I loved trying the different flavors and picking my favorites. This is a high quality ice cream. You should try it for yourself, and let me know. And now the part you have been waiting for
